The multi-role DT Beachlander has been awarded Superyacht Times Tender of the Month for February! See the full write up below or click here for the original online article.

This month we step on board the awesome 9.8-metre DT Beachlander from Pascoe International. The 9.8-metre vessel is the latest model from the British company, Pascoe International, and has been designed to be a true multi-role tender, offering the space and layout to cater perfectly to the requirements of any superyacht.

Currently used as a tender by one of the world's most talked-about and distinctive superyachts - the 106-metre Oceanco sailing yacht, Black Pearl - the 9.8-metre DT Beachlander tender offers everything you could want from a tender and more. With a weight of 4000kg, and a maximum beam of 2.95-metres, the 9.8-metre tender has a total of 520hp and an impressive maximum speed of 45 knots, which is bound to get your pulse racing on the water!

Part of the DT range of tenders from Pascoe International, the 9.8-metre tender has been carefully designed to be dry riding and provide excellent sea keeping whilst setting new standards in the level of finish demanded by the world’s finest yachts.

Seating up to 14 people, the hull features an innovative hydraulic opening bow ramp to enable elegant and safe access to the beach, whilst also offering a flexible deck layout for guest transportation. Newly designed, the wide hull and 'D' shape buoyancy tubes provide a significant increase in internal volume over a conventional tube, allowing guests and crew to move more freely around the tender as they please.

The DT Beachlander incorporates styling by the renowned British studio, Ken Freivokh Design who are also responsible for the design of the mothership Black Pearl. This ensures that the craft is tailored to reflect the mothership’s exact style and detailing and is a true representation of Black Pearl when collecting guests from the dock.

In addition, the tender has also been designed for use by guests as a base for exploring areas that the 106-metre mothership cannot access. Her special features on board are numerous and include a beautifully appointed day head, fridge for refreshments, a sophisticated AV suite and a hydraulic bimini for shade.

With so many cool touches on board and an exquisite level of finish, the 9.8-metre DT Beachlander has many standout features in her design including a phenomenal sound system and hidden sun loungers located within the aft sun pad.

In addition, her bimini also lowers at the touch of a button to reduce height for more compact stowage on board. Furthermore, her high-tech joystick control system allows each sterndrive to move independently for full 360-degree control, enabling the tender to move sideways, diagonally and rotate, all without the use of a bow or stern thruster.

Superyacht Times Talk Pascoe

With over 180 tenders in active service for some of the world’s most iconic yachts, the UK-based Pascoe International has a well-established reputation for their so-called pocket superyachts. Here we talk to Vice President, Tom Southern about how the company got to where they are today and what we can expect to see from them in the future.

With over 180 tenders in active service for some of the world’s most iconic yachts, the UK-based Pascoe International has a well-established reputation for their so-called pocket superyachts. Here we talk to Vice President, Tom Southern about how the company got to where they are today and what we can expect to see from them in the future.

Pascoe International was established in 2004. Tell us about the company’s journey into building tenders and some of the major milestones since.

Pascoe International came into being as a major player in the tender market when commissioned by the owner of the Maltese Falcon to supply a matching pair of open and cabin custom 10-metre tenders. The owner had researched the market and could not find tenders which could match his new yacht in terms of quality, innovation and attention to detail. Since then, Pascoe has gone on to build over 180 dedicated superyacht tenders.

It is indeed significant that a majority of Pascoe tenders have been specified/requested by captains, chief engineers, shipyard and project managers – they have the responsibility to deliver to the owner a reliable tender to fully match all the owner’s expectations. As the Pascoe range now extends to open and enclosed limousine tenders and handsome beach landing craft, owners have increasingly wished to be involved in the finer details and to explore with Pascoe’s designers the best way to customise the tenders to match the mother ship and their own particular style.

We notice that Pascoe Limousines actually display the Pascoe brand name yet a variety of styles are evident. Tell us more about that.

At variance with companies who simply offer their services as boat/tender builders or companies who offer weekend leisure boats as tenders, Pascoe tenders are all based on tried and tested ‘platforms’ developed specifically to provide the ideal characteristics required for a yacht tender. This means that Pascoe guarantees such qualities and performance, and the owners can rest assured that they are not ordering a prototype tender which may, or may not, come up to their expectations. Regarding the styling, however, such platforms have been designed from the outset with the flexibility required to offer a wide range of options to ensure that the ultimate styling not only perfectly suits the mothership garage but also can match the look and feel of the main yacht.

A number of Pascoe ‘pocket superyachts’ can be seen at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, all based on fully optimised platforms, yet the look, the style and the proportions will have been dictated by their garages and owner requirements resulting in unique and highly individual dedicated superyacht tenders.

You note that any owner demanding the very best from their tender should come to you. What makes you and your tenders stand out from your competition?

Quite simple – pursuit of perfection. A look into a Pascoe engine bay or indeed a cabin interior will instantly reveal the attention to detail, the level of innovation and, very importantly, the level of practicality and serviceability. Pascoe tenders, whilst very elegant, have been designed as working tenders, not just pleasure craft. They are designed and built to withstand the rigours of working 18 hour days, serving all the requirements of the mothership, with quality and reliability being the hallmark of every single Pascoe tender, whether a 5.5-metre SOLAS rescue tender or a 12-metre highly specified limousine.

You’ve built and delivered nearly 200 superyacht tenders to date, with many clients ordering multiple craft at a time. What makes your clients go for the whole tender package with Pascoe?

Pascoe is unique in that we will deliver a complete set of tenders to cater for all requirements of the mothership. It is not unusual for Pascoe to deliver packages of three or even four tenders to a single yacht. A recent package included a 10-metre enclosed limousine, an elegant 9-metre open guest tender, a 7-metre ski boat and a 7-metre crew/rescue tender. Each project is tailored to meet the clients individual requirements, built by Pascoe International’s 100 strong workforce at a dedicated production facility on the River Hamble, UK.

Pascoe International will be at the upcoming edition of the Monaco Yacht Show. What can we expect to see from you?

You will see the unveiling of two splendid and very special new tenders designed by Ken Freivokh to match his design for the newly launched 106-metre Oceanco sailing yacht Black Pearl. These include a unique 10.4-metre limousine catering for 12 guests within a handsome cabin and a 10-metre larger evolution of Pascoe’s hugely successful Beachlander series. Pascoe will also present a brand new and quite distinct 10.2-metre limousine reminiscent of the most iconic gentleman’s launches, and there will be a number of Pascoe limousines and other Pascoe tenders at the show alongside their respective superyachts.

Compact Superyacht Tender: 5.60m DT Launch Model

Following two years of research and development, Pascoe International are delighted to announce the arrival of the first of a new line of compact superyacht tenders. A targeted program of production engineering and extensive 3D design has resulted in a highly optimised, compact yet elegant platform which remains competitively priced not through hardware or material savings, but thanks to a dramatic reduction in build time.

Quality

Over the last 10 years, Pascoe International have carved a reputation for providing the highest quality superyacht tenders in the marketplace. The new range of DT Launches continues this tradition and proudly incorporates all the attention to detail, top-class engineering and only the very best fixtures and fittings on a platform designed following automotive practice. The DT Launches retain the pneumatic collars which offer the best possible protection for both the tender and the mother ship, on a “D” configuration to maximise internal space.

Design

All mouldings have been precision CNC machined for total symmetry and perfect fit. Overall weight has been kept to a minimum and weight distribution optimised to ensure a safe and stable launch and recovery. The cockpit is that of a ‘proper’ boat, with high composite sides to offer maximum protection.

Height

The new DT range offers maximum spray protection whilst fitting in yacht garages of minimum size.  With the standard folding console screen the new range will fit within garages as low as 1200mm.

Boarding

The new range has been designed to understand the variety of tasks that a dedicated yacht tender will encounter.  Guest boarding is catered for from all aspects, side-on with permanent teak lined steps, from the bow again with fixed steps and stern to via a generous swim platform.

Noise and Vibration

All the tenders in the new range boast a highly insulated mid-engine configuration. This layout not only achieves optimum weight distribution, but also significant noise and vibration reduction through a decoupled connection to either jet or stern-drive.

Standard Equipment

  • Raymarine E7 Chart plotter

  • Lifting Points

  • Folding Console Screen

  • Concealed Swimming Ladder

  • Flush Mooring Cleats

  • Lopo LED Navigation Lights

  • Bespoke Aluminum Grab Handles

  • Volvo Interceptor Trim Control

Cost and Delivery

The new tenders offer a dramatic cost reduction thanks to the adoption of automotive assembly techniques with the 5.6m starting at £115,000. The assembly process now allows a shorter build slot and hence faster delivery.

We will be delighted to show you the first of the new DT Launch range at Monaco Yacht Show, to be shown alongside the latest 8.0m and 9.6m limousine tenders.

Pascoe International is delighted to announce the delivery of the first 8.0m SL Limousine to the M/Y Madame Kate.

This very special Limousine is painted in a custom pearlescent white to match the motherships exterior and also features portholes to match those found on the Tim Heywood designed exterior of the mothership. Design input was also taken for the interior from Laura Sessa Design to compliment the look and feel of Madame Kate’s guest areas. The 8.0m Limousine is a true representation of its mothership and is a testament to the relationship between Pascoe International, the owner’s team and the yachts designers.

Madame Kate, the 60m Amels LE180, also carries a 7.0m DT Pascoe tender, primarily used as for water sports, swimming and crew operations.

The 8.0m SL Limousine is the latest addition to the Pascoe range and was designed as a compact alternative to the larger 9.6m SL Limousine that recently won the 2015 Showboats Design Award for best tender.
